Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice?

People always ask me "How long have you been decorating cakes?"  While it's true that my first official cake decorating class was in 2003, I have been fascinated by baking ever since helping my dad make bread as a little kid.  We each entered decorated cakes in the Saratoga County Fair for years, so experimenting with frosting came naturally to me as an adult. Here are some funny pictures from when I was younger.

This camping scene has a girl with her tent and a fire circle.  It looks like I used toothpicks as kindling on the campfire.

Hmmmm, I wonder how old I was when I made this cake?

These cakes were entered in the Saratoga County Fair.  I made the carousel on the top left, and dad and mom made the dinosaur and bear.

I don't think I made this gingerbread village all by myself, but I certainly helped!

Mom is helping me cut a New Years Eve cake that I made.

It's a fuzzy picture, but there I think that the person on the cake is fishing.

Here I am, "helping" my parents in the kitchen.  There's nothing like the smell of fresh home made bread!

This was one of my Saratoga County Fair cakes.  It says "Have a Birthday Splash"!  Even back then I liked making little characters.
